8 TACTICS OF SATAN AND SCRIPTURE TO USE IN RESPONSE

1. GUILT

Perhaps you’ve rebelled against God by doing your own thing and living in ways in which you know He would not approve. Evil forces will fill your mind with guilt, making you feel unworthy to come back to God.
Response Scripture: Hebrews 10:22 (NLT)
“…let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting Him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.”

2.  WORRY

Satan likes to enhance our worries so we question God’s ability and power.
Response Scripture: Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

3.  STRESS

Satan loves it when we are so busy we are stressed out of our minds, because the more stressed we are, the more distracted we are.
Response Scripture: Ephesians 5:15-17 (NLT)
“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.”

4.  TEMPTATION

As Satan did with Adam and Eve, he likes to appeal to our desires. It doesn’t take evil forces long to watch your life to know what those desires are.
Response Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT)
“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure.

5.  FEAR

Satan knows we fear the unknown and the future. The more we fear, the smaller our God is and Satan loves that.
Response Scripture: Isaiah 41:10 (NLT)
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with My victorious right hand.”

6.  DESPAIR

When experiencing difficult times, Satan wants us to feel like all hope is lost and that God isn’t listening, doesn’t care and won’t do anything about it.
Response Scripture: Romans 15:13 (NLT)
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”

7. LIES

Jesus called Satan the father of lies. Evil forces love to lie to us about God’s truth in Scripture, therefore convincing us to twist the Scriptures to fit our lifestyles or beliefs.
Response Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:15 (NIV)
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”

8.  REVENGE

As people wrong us, evil forces entice us to get revenge. We want those who have hurt us to hurt as much as they have hurt us. Often times we get revenge with angry outbursts of hurtful words that divide relationships.
Response Scripture: Romans 12:17-21 (NIV)
“Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is Mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
